Drilling, Tapping and Threading Holes

Drilling, Tapping and Threading Holes

Method 1: Using a drill. You can make a hole in metal using a drill. First, make the hole in the center of the metal and then attach the Dremel bit on the drill. Drill the hole until it is big enough. If you are afraid of drilling then you can make a hole and then insert a screw into the hole.. The experience is less than ideal, however. These saws are incredibly loud in metal and the hole saws wear out much more quickly. The task can also be rather dangerous if you don’t have the work clamped down to your drill press. Once I was drilling 3-inch holes in aluminum tubing with a hole saw using a drill press.

If you have a drilling machine, also known as a drill press, use that to drill your hole. 7. Bring the drill up to medium speed and apply consistent pressure. As the bit cuts into the metal, slowly increase the speed of the drill. Keep the drill at slow to medium speed and apply gentle but consistent pressure against it.. Clamp or hold a straightedge or square along the cutting marks and score a line with the tip of a sharp utility knife blade. Then bend the sheet back and forth a few times to snap it. You can use the same trick to cut metal studs. Snip the two sides. Then score a line between the cuts and bend the stud to break it.
